George Anthony Pizzuto

George Anthony Pizzuto, 80, of Muhlenberg Township died March 7, 2014, in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township.

He was the husband of Phyllis J. (Pusczykowski) Pizzuto whom he married November 28, 1975. They had been together since 1970.

Born July 2, 1933 in Reading, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Leone) Pizzuto.

George was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School.

He was employed as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years. He was also employed as caretaker for Alvernia College for 5 years. He last worked for Reading Health Systems as a shuttle driver.

George was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the U.S.S. Chilten.

A very active person, George loved baseball and bowling and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two children: Todd R. Pizzuto of West Reading and Jill E., wife of Joshua Lenhart of Mertztown.

Other survivors include his brother, Samuel L., husband of Patricia A. Pizzuto of Mt. Penn and his sister, Mary Jane, wife of Henry Skowron of Reading.

Also surviving is his extended family: Dennis M., husband of Kristen Kintzer and their children, Danielle and Derek.

There are also three grandchildren surviving: Jordan S. Pizzuto, Ashley N. Lenhart and Brandon J. Lenhart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Muhlenberg Township. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
