George I. Mengel

George I. Mengel, 85 of Hamburg died October 31, 2011, in The Orwigsburg Manor, Orwigsburg. He was the husband of Emma L. (Haas) Mengel. George was born in Hamburg and was the son of the late Joseph F. and Irene S. (Balthaser) Mengel. Mr. Mengel was a 1944 graduate of Hamburg High School and was a life member of Union Fire Company # 1 and it's beneficial. George worked 20 years for the Windsor Knitting Mill in Hamburg as a knitter. He then worked 20 years as a circuit designer for I.B.M in East Fishkill, N.Y retiring in 1987. In addition to his wife, George is survived by a brother, Ralph Mengel of Hamburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 12:00 Noon in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg. A viewing will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon.
