George L. Jobe, 89, Muhlenberg Twp., died September 11, 2008 in Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was the husband of Stella P. (Rogers) Jobe.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late John L. and Emma (Echoff) Jobe.
He was a graduate of Birdsboro High School in 1938.
Mr. Jobe was a disable veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was injured and earned a Purple Heart.
George was a purchasing agent for the U.S. Postal Service at 5th and Court Streets, Reading, for 31 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.
George was a lifetime member of the Goodwill Fire Company, Hyde Park and the Ivy Leaf, Reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Charlene Jobe, Muhlenberg Twp. and his granddaughter, Anna Jobe, Philadelphia.
He was predeceased by his son, Leslie G. Jobe on October 12, 2005.
