George E. Huie

George E. Huie, 98, passed away July 13, 2013 in his Laureldale residence.

He was the husband of Dorothy R. (Humphrey) Huie, whom he married almost 35 years ago on August 25, 1978.

Born in North Carolina, he was a son of the late James C. and Nancy (Smoot) Huie.

He was employed with Carpenter Technologies Corp. for over 33 years, retiring in 1975.

George loved flowers and took pride in his garden, which never had a weed. He also enjoyed music, dancing and relaxing in his lounge chair on the back porch.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his three sons: Curtis S., husband of Eileen Huie, Wernersville; Bruce, husband of Susan Huie, Zionsville and Dale, husband of Barbara Huie, Reinholds. Also surviving are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

George was predeceased by his six siblings: Gerald Huie, Curtis Huie, Charlie Huie, Bessie Myers, Dani Walker and Ola Hill.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mohns Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bayada Hospice, 100 Schaeffer St., Ste 4, Boyertown, PA 19512.
