George S. Hoopes

George S. Hoopes

George S. Hoopes, 52, Spring Township, died of natural causes Dec. 22 after being stricken at Metropolitan Edison Co., Muhlenberg Township, where he was employed for 22 years as a systems analyst.

He was the husband of Lisa (Moore) Hoopes.

Born in Reading, he was a son of John H. Hoopes, Douglassville, and the late Jane C. (Barnett) Hoopes.

Hoopes was a 1970 graduate of Daniel Boone High School and a 1974 graduate of Drexel University, Philadelphia, with a bachelor's degree in physics. He received a master's degree in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 1978.

He was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church.

Hoopes was a keyboard and piano player with the band, The Bourbons, for 36 years in the Pottstown area.

He is also survived by a son, Preston J., at home.

Other survivors include a sister, Adele S. (Hoopes) Klein, Douglassville.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the West Lawn UM Church. Viewing 5 -9 pm Monday evening in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. Contributions may be made to: Preston Hoopes Scholarship Fund C/O Morgan Stanley 2610 Keiser Blvd. Wyomissing,PA 19610. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
