George R. Frey

George R. Frey, 81, passed away during the early hours of Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, he was a child of the late Robert R. Frey Sr. and Mary L. (Kaucher).

After high school, George enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, he enrolled in Kutztown State College, graduating in 1967. He went on to enjoy a 30-year career as a teacher at Daniel Boone School District, retiring in 1996. Teaching was truly his passion. He also served as President and Treasurer of the Daniel Boone Education Association.

George belonged to Bausman Memorial United Church and served as financial secretary at his church for 20 years. His commitment to church and country was matched only by his love of teaching and his love for his family.

Left to treasure his memory are his sons, Scott A. Frey (Amy) of Lititz and Cameron T. Frey (Matthew) of Ashburn, VA; grandchildren Lucas, Sarah, Elliott, Aiden, and Harper; and siblings Virginia May Beck, Robert R. Frey Jr., and Mary Ann Berthoud. He is also survived by his companion, Mary Ellen Batman of Exeter Township.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Alan Frey.

A memorial service will be held at Bausman Memorial United Church, 1064 Penn Ave, Wyomissing, PA on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 1 pm. Committal services will be celebrated privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
