George M. Eisenhofer

George M. Eisenhofer, 86, peacefully passed away March 2, 2013 in his Bern Township residence.

He was the husband of Margaret I. (Horning) , whom he married June 24, 1950.

Born June 10, 1926, in Neukirchen-Balbini, Germany, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Roetzer) Eisenhofer.

George was a long distance truck driver for 52 years. He started his career hauling fill for the Reading Airport runways. He was employed with Putnam Transfer, Zainesville, OH, and retired in 1994 after 34 years of loyal service with Textile Chemical Company, Leesport.

He served in General George Patton's 3rd Army during WWII's Battle of the Bulge.

In addition to his wife, surviving is his beloved family: sons: Dennis G., husband of Rose, Centerport; Dale M., husband of Loren, Mohnton; Douglas A., husband of Karen , Leesport and David L., husband of Stacie, Mooresville, NC.; eight grandchildren: Justin, Todd, Drew, Erin(Readinger), Courtney, Cory, Joel and Austin; and six great grandchildren: Katie, Owen, Sami, Keagan, Cerina, and Derian.

Also surviving are his two sisters, Frances (Eisenhofer) Horning of Denver, Lancaster County and Anna (Eisenhofer) Jurasinski of Wyomissing.

George's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Home Instead Senior Care and Heartland Hospice for all the loving care and compassion they have shown in the past few months.

Services will be Wednesday March 6 at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township.
