George R. Bernhart, Jr.

George R. Bernhart, Jr., 90, formerly of Wyomissing, died October 31, 2016, in Berks Heim.

He was the husband of Gloria C. (Talarico) Bernhart with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late George R., Sr., and Anna (Schell) Bernhart.

He was a graduate of Reading High School and served his country honorably in the US Navy.

George was retired from Met-Ed after 40 years of service.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

George enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Patricia A., wife of Gary Spatz, Maidencreek Township; Annette Y., wife of William Schaeffer, Wyomissing; and Robert J. Bernhart, Temple; three grandchildren: Daniel Blanchard; Arianne Schaeffer; and Miranda Schaeffer; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry, husband of Frances Bernhart, Cumru Township and James, husband of Myra Lou Bernhart, Shillington; and his sister-in-law, Joanne Bernhart, Reading also survives him.

He was predeceased by one brother, John Bernhart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, with burial to follow.
