George T. Barbon Jr., 89, passed away June 23, 2016, at the Highlands of Wyomissing.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late George T. and Tillie (Wysopal) Barbon.
He was the husband of Madelyn M. (Moodhart) Barbon.
George was a 1944 graduate of Reading High School Wharton School of Business.
After college George was employed by the Textile Machine Works and then worked as a salesman for DuBois Chemical Company out of Cincinnati, OH.
He was a member of the Mason Chandler Lodge #227 and of the Scottish Rite. George was an avid model ship builder, enjoyed traveling with his wife, and golfing. He enjoyed the bridge club at the Highlands and singing in their chorus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ann L., widow of Edward Loux, Hackettstown, NJ; a brother, Robert A. Barbon, Worcester, MA; and a sister, Dorothy A., widow of Rodney Hess, Wernersville, and many nieces and nephews also survive him.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. in the Highlands at Wyomissing Multicultural Room. A visitation will be held from 2-2:30 p.m. in the Multicultural Room. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Avenue, Reading, PA 19609 or to a charity of your choice in George's name.
