Genie M. Kershner

Genie M. Kershner, 77, of Reading, died May 28, 2011 in the Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Her husband, Lionel F. Kershner, passed away in 1994.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Sylvania (Houseman) Berger.

Genie was a graduate of Kutztown High School.

She worked in data entry for CNA until her retirement.

Genie was an avid reader. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, needlepoint and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Lee Jay, husband of Margaret Kershner, Exeter Township, Lori Ann, wife of Marlyn Jefferson, Akron and Rhonda Lynn Kershner, Reading. Also surviving is her brother, Luther Berger, Bethlehem. Four grandchildren: Thomas Jefferson, Timothy Jefferson, John Kershner and Rose Kershner survive her.

She was predeceased by her son, Mitchell David Kershner in 2008. She is survived by Mitchell's companion, Nancy Boone, Laureldale.

A Memorial Service will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
