Gene Robert Mckently

Gene Robert McKently, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, 83, formerly of Spring Township passed away unexpectedly August 19, 2014 in Keystone Villa, Maidencreek Township.

He was the husband of June (Wolford) McKently who passed away October 2, 2012.

Born November 5, 1930 in Reading, he was a son of the late Claude Ivan and Martha (Weber) McKently.

Gene was a 1948 graduate of Fleetwood High School.

He was the owner/operator of McKently Brothers Auto Body, Fleetwood since 1957, retiring in 1993.

Gene was a very active member of Frieden's United Church of Christ, Oley.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Gene was a member of Huguenot Lodge 0377, Oley.

He enjoyed spur of the moment trips to Cape May, NJ with his wife.

An active wood worker, he was very handy and did a lot of remodeling at his home. He also loved working on cars.

Gene enjoyed watching the Phillies and riding his motorcycle, but most of all, special time spent with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his two children: Kirk G., husband of Betty J. McKently of Pricetown and Kim L., wife of Donald L. Mummert of Fleetwood.

Also surviving is his sister, Esther Cleaver of Wyomissing.

Other survivors include his grandchildren: Jenny L. Guzewski, Andrew J. Mummert, Michael M. McKently and Meeka M. McKently and two great grandchildren, Jared D. Garcia and G. David Garcia.

Gene was predeceased by his daughter, Kathy Lynn McKently, his grandson Marc M. McKently and his brother, Wilbur C. McKently.

Services will be Friday evening at 7:30 in Frieden's UCC, 337 Main Street, Oley, PA 19547. A viewing will be held from 6 p.m. until the time of the service in church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
