Gene L. Smith

Gene Lois (Horn) Smith, 85, of Shoemakersville, died November 1, 2011 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township.

She was the wife of Stanley William Smith who died March, 1999.

Born February 23, 1926 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Richard Horn and Margaret May (Snyder) Horn.

Gene was a 1944 graduate of Reading High School.

Gene loved dogs and enjoyed dancing and playing the organ.

Surviving are two nephews, William D., husband of Kay Shunk of Perry Township; Harry, husband of Heather Van Pelt of Portsmouth, NH and two nieces, June, wife of Ernest Morrison of Laureldale and Jean Dietrich of Perry Township.

Gene was predeceased by five siblings: Richard Horn, David Horn, Margaret Van Pelt, Barbara Stuebner and Helen V. Shunk.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park, 391 W. Neversink Road, Exeter Township. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
