Gene L. Salvatore

Gene L. Salvatore, 78, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, in his Robesonia residence, after a long illness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hannah (Moyer) Salvatore, who he married August 29, 1969.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Anthony and Miriam (Thren) Salvatore.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Gene was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, earned his B.S. in chemical engineering from Trine University, and later earned his master's degree in engineering from Clarkson University.

He was employed by Western Electric, later Lucent Technologies, as manufacturing engineer.

Gene loved to travel and has visited all seven continents. His interest in astronomy has lead him to witness nine total solar eclipses. He was a member of the Berks County Amateur Astronomical Society.

In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by his daughter, Donali, wife of Michael Livinghouse, Robesonia. Other survivors include four cats: Hans, Fritz, Molly Mae, and Cleo, two grand horses: Zeke and Thuglet, two grand cats: Lewey and Pootie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene was predeceased by three siblings: Donna Salvatore, Larry Salvatore and Ronnie Salvatore, and two grand horses, Pete and Classy.

A memorial celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 12 noon, in the Salvatore's residence.
