Gale Umstead Bupp, (82), passed away on November 23, 2021 at The Highlands, Wyomissing, PA. She was the wife of the late Rev. Martin L. Bupp, II. Born December 13, 1938 in Lansdale, PA, Gale was the daughter of Herbert Umstead and Dorothea (Weller) Umstead. She was a graduate of North Penn High School, Catawba College and received her MBA from Widener University. Gale was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lansdale, PA.
Gale's passion for the welfare of others led her to a career that began as an elementary and Sunday school teacher, followed by serving as the Director of Volunteers at the Broomall Nursing Home, Broomall, PA, and the Director of Volunteers at Inglis House, Philadelphia, PA. After she received her NHA license, Gale became the Assistant Administrator for The Philadelphia Protestant Home, and ultimately retired from her position as the Administrator of Richboro Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Richboro, PA, in 2001.
Gale's proudest accomplishment was her four children and her nine grandchildren. She was saddened by the loss of her oldest son, Keith A. Bupp, in 2020, who is survived by his wife Sujata (Bose) Bupp and his daughter, Emily, of Gaithersburg, MD.
Gale is survived by three children and their spouses: Karl E. Bupp and Carol (Goetz) Bupp of Wayne, PA; Stephanie (Bupp) Becker and Daniel P. Becker of Wyomissing, PA; Jennifer (Bupp) Meko and Joseph Meko of Portland, ME. Gale was fondly known as "Oma" to her beloved grandchildren: Brendan, Brian, Anna, Kari, Sam, Alyssa, Erin, Eric and Emily.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's U.C.C., Lansdale, PA in the Spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Gale U. Bupp to St. John's UCC Memorial Fund, 500 West Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
