Gail A. Stoyer, 88, of West Reading, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at Complete Care at Berkshire. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick C. Stoyer, Sr., who passed away in 1982.
Born in Reading to the late Roy and Edith (O'Shea) Sprucebank, Gail graduated from Wilson High School in 1955. After raising her family, she worked as a secretary for over 20 years at Reading Hospital until retiring at 62 to be a full-time grandmother. Gail was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Deborah Stamm (Thomas), of Morgantown; Frederick Jr. (Leslie), of Copley, OH; David (Jean), of Chadds Ford; and Melanie Valunas (Allan), of Sinking Spring; her grandchildren: Jennifer Voelker, Stephanie Stoltzfus, and Thomas Stamm Jr.; Abigail and Curtis Stoyer; David Jr., Nicholas, and Patrick Stoyer; and Alexa, Madelyn, Caroline, and Colby Valunas; and her great-grandchildren: Claire and Allison Voelker and Brayden and Hailey Stoltzfus.
In addition to her husband, Gail was predeceased by her brothers, Roy Sprucebank Jr. and Thomas Sprucebank; her sister, Joan Flemming; and her dear friend, Richard Penturelli.
Contributions in Gail's memory may be offered to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 740 Cherry St., West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at 12 noon at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the start of Mass. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
