Frederick P. Yourkavitch

Frederick P. "Fritz" Yourkavitch, 69, of Reading, died of Glioblastoma on February 10, 2010 in Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Mary Jo (Strollo) Yourkavitch.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Stanley and Catherine M. (Dautrich) Yourkavitch.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1959, was both a journeyman and master plumber and a member of the Reading Masters Plumbers Assoc.

Fritz began his career at Wertz Engineering in 1965; in 1968 he began his own business, Reading Consolidated Company, Inc. and was the owner/operator of RCCI until he sold the business in 2000. For the past ten years, he was the plumbing inspector for the City of Reading last working nine days ago; he also taught the journeyman apprenticeship program at ast, in Oley.

He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Reading, where he served as an usher.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lisa M., wife of Peter Patton, Reading; Mark V., husband of Wendy (Sharman) Yourkavitch, Wyomissing, and Michael S., husband of Jennifer (Peoples) Yourkavitch, Fairfax, VA. There are eight siblings, Margaret Lechner, Sonny Mitchell, Doris Drobnick, Fay Swiderski, Jerry Mitchell, Loretta Kozlowski, Dawn Sedoti and Sylvia Endy; and his devoted sister-in-law, Dr. Johanna C. Strollo. Nine grandchildren, Jarod Patton, Travis Patton, Connor Yourkavitch, Dayne Yourkavitch, Brynn Yourkavitch, Taryn Yourkavitch, Kade Yourkavitch, Megan Yourkavitch and Noah Yourkavitch also survive him.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; his grandchildren, who called him "PopPop", were his world.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 501 Summit Avenue, Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
