Frederick George Scheidegger, Jr., 63, of Spring Township, died March 25, 2011 in Lebanon VA Hospital.

He was the loving life partner of Joan L. (Hammond) Hanley.

Born February 7, 1948 in West Reading, he was a son of Ruth Theresa (Breen) Scheidegger of South Heidelberg Township and the late Frederick George Scheidegger, Sr.

Fred was a 1965 graduate of Central Catholic High School and attended Penn State College, Berks Campus.

He was an Army Staff Sergeant.

Fred was employed with Schnure Manufacturing, Honey Brook for 10 years, as shop supervisor; Baldwin Brass Company, Wyomissing for 6 years, as Capacity Planner and 2 years Master Scheduler; Wernersville VFW for 1 year as bar manager and bartender; Sinking Spring Fire Company for 12 years as bartender and Green Valley Country Club for 7 years until his retirement in 2011 as bar manager.

He was a mason with Puritan Lodge #740.

Fred was an avid golfer and an Eagles, Phillies and Flyers Fanatic.

A loving father, Fred is survived by his three children: Andrea L., wife of Jeremy F. Detterline of West Lawn; F. Michael, husband of Maria R. Scheidegger of Sinking Spring and Steven T. Scheidegger of Sinking Spring.

Also surviving is a sister, Linda P., wife of Craig G. Murray, Sr. of South Heidelberg Township; one niece and three nephews.

There are four grandchildren surviving: Dylan M., Tyler M., Alexis L. and Breanna N.

He is also survived by his former wife, Lisa A. Kent of West Lawn.

Fred was predeceased by a brother John T. Scheidegger.

He will be sorely missed by his family and his many many friends.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
