Frederick P. Byrne, 85, of Wyomissing, died August 30, 2008 in Reading Hospital Emergency Care Unit.
He was the husband of Anna P. (DeStefano) Byrne to whom he married on May 14, 1950.
Born in Hightstown, NJ, he was a son of the late Frederick K. and Elizabeth (Braun) Byrne.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.
Mr. Byrne was the supervisor of Diamond Bros., Reading for 30 years retiring in 1983.
Fred was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
He is survived by his eight children, Rev. Frederick C., O.S.B., Latrobe, Steven P., Gouglersville, Patrick, Glen Burnie, MD, Sharon M. Stump Moyer, Wernersville, Michael, Dallastown, Judy A. Hanna, Qatar, Eileen M. Byrne, Reading and Anthony, Sinking Spring.
There is one brother, Robert, Hightstown, NJ and three sisters, Gertrude Hodul, Warrington, VA, Elizabeth Setneska, Selma, NC and Kathleen Ezell, Tucson, AZ. Seventeen grandchildren and one great grandson also survive him.
He was predeceased by three brothers, J. Vincent, Edward and John and one sister, Margaret Larkin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 12 p.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
