Frederick G. Knowles

Frederick Guy Knowles, 72, of Muhlenberg Township, died November 16, 2008 in the St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

Born July 18, 1936 in Reading, PA., he was a son of the late Catherine May (Adams) Knowles.

He was a graduate of Reading High School.

Frederick was employed a number of years as a quality control technician with Wyomissing Paper, Muhlenberg Township.

He was an Army Veteran.

Frederick is survived by six children: Susan J., widow of Randolph S. Dougherty of Muhlenberg Township; Sharon L., wife of Thomas P. Hummel of Reading; Kimberly S. Althouse of Laureldale; Shawn R. Knowles of Philadelphia; Jennifer A., wife of Dale M. Bolich of Shoemakersville and Daryl G. Knowles of Reading.

Other survivors include two brothers: Austin L., husband of Rosemary (DeFuria) Knowles of Auburn, Schuylkill County and Charles D. Knowles of Pottsville.

There are also seven grandchildren: Siobhan, Tyler, James, Brooke, Bailey, Dale Max and Morgan.

He was predeceased by five siblings: Edward Knowles; Rodney Knowles; Elizabeth Ammon; Eleanor Fudeman and Evelyn Knowles.

Services will be Thursday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Viewings will be held Wednesday 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Thursday 9:30 - 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
