Frederic W. Woodhouse

Frederic William Woodhouse, 86, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and formerly of Bern Township, died February 29, 2008 in St. Joseph's Assisted Living Community, Jupiter, Florida, where he had been a resident since August 2007.

He was the husband of Martha J. (Stitzel) Schappell Woodhouse, of Jupiter, Florida. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gladys H. (Hafer) Woodhouse on December 23, 1995.

Born in Avoca, New York on November 19, 1921, he was a son of the late Frank D. and Mildred A. (Conklin) Woodhouse.

Frederic attended Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Frederic was employed 25 years with Boyd C. Wagner, Inc., Reading, retiring in 1989 as a project manager and mechanical engineer.

He served on the board of directors of the Green Valley Country Club for 15 years and also served as secretary for 10 of those years.

Frederic was a past president of the Construction Specifications Institute, Harrisburg from 1972-1973.

He is also survived by three step-sons; Maurie S. husband of Diane Schappell of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Marc P. Schappell of New York City, New York and Martin C. husband of Janet Schappell of Fort Myers, Florida.

Other survivors include two sisters; Maurita M. Woodhouse of Hornell, New York and Phyllis, wife of Shirley Russell of Hornell, New York.

There are also two step grandchildren surviving, Lindsay & Matthew Schappell.

He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Spallina. Services will be held Friday at 11 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with the Rev. Bryan Koch officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Leesport Cemetery.
