Fred J. Capozello, a retired city tavern owner, died Nov. 13 at 8:17 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Oct. 7.
Capozello, 74, of Chestnut Street, Birdsboro, formerly of West Reading, was the owner-operator of the Hof Brau Tavern and Restaurant, Reading, from 1983 until his retirement in 1988.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Pietro and Margaret (Marsicano) Capozello.
Capozello was employed from 1948 to 1952 as a truck driver by D. Capozello Sons and Produce, Reading, and was vice president and general manager of P.C. Fruit & Produce, Reading, from 1952 to1966.
He was employed from 1966 to 1983 by the state in the Bureau of Traffic Safety.
Capozello was a 1946 graduate of West Reading High School and a 1950 graduate of McCann's School of Business.
He was an Army veteran.
Capozello was a life member of the Victor Emmanuel II Society.
Surviving are a son, Fred J. Jr., Murrieta, Calif., and a daughter, Margaret A. (Capozello) Stalnecker, Kutztown.
Other survivors include two brothers, Peter and Daniel R., both of West Reading.
Services will be Monday at noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
