Franklin A. Delong

Franklin A. DeLong, 81 of West Wyomissing, died of natural causes at 12:34 p.m. in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since December 9.

He was the husband of Janet V. (Goodhart) DeLong.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Winfield G. and Carrie (Stirk) DeLong.

DeLong was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was first employed for eighteen years as a civilian electrician by Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown. Later, he was employed by Progress Electric, Wyomissing for eight years until his retirement.

DeLong was a lifetime member of the West Lawn Quoiting Club and the Social Quarters of the West Wyomissing Fire Company. DeLong was part of the Spring Township Volunteer Fire Company ribbon-cutting ceremony for the dedication of its fire house. He was given this honor because of his dedication to the building of the fire company. He is survived by two sisters, Florence (DeLong) Davies, Salem, NH, and Betty J. (DeLong) Conrad, Wyomissing.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. West Reading. Friends may call between 10-11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605. The Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
