Frank Screpesi

Frank Screpesi, 89, of Sinking Spring, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died May 6, 2008 at 2:22 a.m., in the presence of his loving family, in the Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since May 2.

He was the husband of Josephine (Rinaldi) Screpesi, to whom he was married on December 2, 1944 in Holy Rosary Church, Reading.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Mario and Anna (Anastasia) Screpesi.

He was co-owner and operator, with his brother, Anthony, of A & F Screpesi's at 13th and Douglas Streets, Reading for 20 years. Frank was also partners with both of his brothers, Anthony and Joseph, in opening Screpesi's Restaurant, 501 Lancaster Avenue, Reading. Later, he worked for Industrial Cabinetry, Bern Township, as a cabinet maker. A job that he truly loved. He last worked at the Fairground Farmer's Market for Boscov's.

He was a life member of Victor Emmanuel II Beneficial Society.

Frank was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

He was extremely proud of his visit to Falcone, Sicily in the late 1990's where he visited the original home of his mother and met his Italian cousins.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Diane, wife of Gerald Miller, and Kathleen, wife of Judge John Boccabella, all of Sinking Spring. There are four grandchildren, Alexis, wife of David McLain, Sinking Spring; Todd, husband of Norma Boccabella, Sleepy Hollow, NY; Mindy, wife of Jason Brudereck, Wyomissing and Nicolas, husband of Stacy Boccabella, NY, NY; and nine great-grandchildren, Kylie, Emmi, Ainsley, Emilio, Lorenzo, Nico, Siena, Will and Maggie. Four sisters, Theresa, wife of Leon Bennethum, West Reading; Rose, widow of Joseph Bugay, Sinking Spring; Josephine, widow of Richard Farrell, Exeter Twp. and Anna, wife of Walter Fedorick, Sinking Spring also survive him.

He was predeceased by five siblings, Pauline Borrelli, Margaret Perrotto, Anthony Screpesi, Joseph Screpesi and Mary Jarosynski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
