Frank Civitarese

Frank Civitarese, 91, of Wyomissing, passed away September 29, 2016, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Nora F. (Hinkle) Civitarese whom he married on June 4, 1949.

Born in Minersville, he was a son of the late Antonio and Luisa (Mattioli) Civitarese.

Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII serving in the European and Pacific Theaters as a gunner's mate. His military service included time on the USS Flambeau, USS Panay, USS Peter V. Daniel, and the SS S.B. Hunt.

He retired from Teamsters Local 429. He was a fire driver for Reading Hose Company #1, Reading.

Frank was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

He was a loving family man and devoted to his family. Some hobbies that he enjoyed were: fishing, hunting, football, baseball, auto racing, and golf. In his youth he was an avid baseball player and went on to coach class C baseball. He was a life time member of the Beneficial Society Victor Emmanuel II.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his children: Frank M. husband of Anne Civitarese, Womelsdorf; Anthony "Rocky", husband of Lynn Civitarese, Womelsdorf; and Mark Civitarese, Wyomissing; three grandchildren: Kelly, Frankie M. Jr., and Tara Anne; and one great granddaughter, Natasha. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was predeceased by his four siblings: Nicholas, Joseph, Susan, and Anthony.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Resurrection in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Burial will follow the Mass. A viewing will be held Monday, October 3rd from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 4th from 9-10 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
