Frances Martin Golden

Frances Martin Golden, 89, Wyomissing, died December 27, 2010 at the Highlands At Wyomissing Nursing Care Center.

She was born October 29, 1921 in Baltimore to Mark H. and Agnes (Bergendahl) Martin. She graduated from Reading High School in 1939 and Cedar Crest College, Allentown, in 1943. Following college she was employed as a secretary at the former Pottieger Construction Company, West Reading. An avid golfer, she joined the Berkshire Country Club in 1943.

On February 25, 1946, she married Albert W. Golden, Jr. who died October 11, 2004. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, the Junior League of Reading and the Woman's Exchange.

She is Survived by a son, Albert W. Golden, III, husband of Kathryn Bertolet Golden, Wyomissing and a daughter, Diane Golden Birdsall, wife of Dennis A. Birdsall, Stuart, Florida. A son, Robert Mark Golden in 2000, predeceased her in 2000.

Other survivors include five grandchildren, Kathryn Golden Goodman, wife of Laurence M. Goodman, Olivia Bertolet Golden, wife of Matthew T. Golden, all of Wyomissing, Mark Christopher Golden, husband of Mollie Banzuly Golden, Chicago, Illinois., Dennis A. Birdsall, Jr., husband of Monica Beilharz Birdsall, Stuart, Florida, Amanda Lee Birdsall, Vero Beach, Florida and a daughter-in-law Sally Butcher Golden, Hershey, Pa. There are four great-grandchildren, Max G. Goodman, Elizabeth B. Goodman, Vivian B. Golden and Kingston Jay Birdsall.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Internment will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Memorial contributions are welcome to the Salvation Army Reading Corps, 301 South 5th Street, Reading, PA 19602-2310.
