Frances Evangeline "Vangie" (Romero) Gallegos, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Birdsboro Lodge where she was surrounded by family and friends.
Frances, also known as Vangie, was born in Chama, New Mexico and raised in Albuquerque, where she enjoyed a happy childhood full of love. She received her Nursing degree in 1962 and would for the rest of her life keep this profession in the highest regard, expressing sincere gratitude to those in the healthcare industry.
Vangie married the love of her life, Fernando Gallegos, a true love story uniquely magnificent! They would remain together, loyal to their bond for 57 years until Fernando's passing in 2020. Together they created a beautiful life. Their union is written in the stars and they will meet there again for all eternity.
Together they had four children: Yvonne Oliver (Craig), Christie Sandritter (Bryan), Teri Gallegos-Rosa (Paul), and John F. Gallegos. She often said her biggest accomplishments were raising her family and managing two successful businesses with her husband Fernando (Las Vegas Electric and Las Vegas Ice) where she was instrumental. However, she often described her biggest joys as spending time with her seven grandchildren. She had a wicked sense of humor and loved taking the grandchildren on many hikes and adventures where they enjoyed her silly stories and listened to her talk like "Donald Duck"! She loved art, listening to music, playing and watching sports and she was known for baking the best lemon meringue pie!!!
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fernando, in 2020 but there was never a moment where they turned down an opportunity to spend time with their children, seven grandchildren: Ryne, Bonnie, Paul IV, Jordan, Austin, Nevaeh and Joaquin, and six great grandchildren: Sofia Nicole, Sebastian Alexander, Isabella Charlotte, Paul V, Dillon Wiley and Harvey Wyatt!
Vangie was a caring person, devoted Christian and loving mom who was always there to listen and encourage. She was funny, creative, and genuinely kind. Her love everlasting!
A friend, daughter, sister, mother, and a silly loving grandma with a beautiful soul forever and always. She will be missed but never forgotten.
Funeral Mass, interment, and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
