Forrest Walton Hetrich, 87, of Bern Township, died January 26, 2009 at 9:42 pm in the Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Doris Margaret (Trout) Hetrich, whom he married August 20, 1949.
Born in his Reading home on September 24, 1921, he was a son of the late Clarence and Anna (Jesberg) Hetrich.
He was a 1939 graduate of Reading High School.
Forrest was a member of Grace Alsace United Church of Christ, Muhlenberg Township, where he was a member and past president of the church consistory and sang in the church choir.
He served in the Barbershop Chorus for 53 years and "Forry" as he was called sang tenor in the Penn Square Quartet.
Forrest was a Navy Veteran of WWII, serving for six years as an aircraft mechanic.
He was the owner/operator of Forrest Hetrich Auto Body, Bern Township for many years before his retirement.
Forrest was also a former substitute instructor at Berks Career and Technology West Center, Bern Township.
He was an avid fisherman, furniture refinisher, gardener and loved to solve crossword puzzles.
Forrest is also survived by two children: Mark S. Hetrich of Alsace Township and Mary E. (Hetrich), wife of Lew N. Davis of Spring Township.
Other survivors include a sister, Fern (Hetrich), wife of Paul Wolfinger of Muhlenberg Township; a niece, Carol (Wolfinger) Stone and a nephew, Steve Wolfinger.
Forrest was also a loving grandfather to two grandchildren: Sarah E. Davis and Luke N. Davis.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in Grace Alsace U.C.C. Church, 2151 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605, with Rev. James W. Adam officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
