Florence W. Naftzinger Florence Walburga (Bettler) Naftzinger, Arnold, Md., formerly of West Lawn, passed away peacefully Nov. 13, 2006, in Kent County General Hospital, Dover, Del., after living a full and happy life for 98 years. She was born in Pottsville, and later moved to Reading when she married Howard Naftzinger in 1928. She and Howard then moved to West Lawn where Florence continued to live until 2005.
Florence was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a caring and compassionate friend and neighbor.
During her life, Florence had many interests. She was an excellent seamstress and she took great pride in her homemaking skills. She enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, playing bridge and baking. Although she never drove, she enjoyed riding the bus all over Reading and West Lawn on frequent shopping excursions.
Florence's favorite holiday was Christmas and she always made this a very special occasion for her family.
During World War II, she was a seamstress for the Reading Air Chutes. She was very proud that she was able to serve her country in this way.
Florence's greatest joy in life came from helping others, and all of her friends and family will miss her kindness and caring advice.
She will be greatly missed by her son, Bob, her daughter-in-law Joyce, Deptford, N.J.; and her daughter, Linda (Naftzinger) Bonnett, with whom she resided.
