Florence S. Fries

Florence S. (Frey) Fries, 88 , died April 25, 2017 in The Highlands at Wyomissing.

She was the widow of Dr. Gene T. Fries who passed away in January of 2013.

Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William Carl and Gertrude (Doerr) Frey.

She was a graduate from Douglas College for Women, now known as Rutgers University, where she achieved her bachelor's degree. For two years, she also attended Hahnemann University School of Medicine.

Florence was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church.

For most of her life, Florence was a homemaker in her home where she loved and cared for her children. She adored her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her.

Florence was a loving wife and proud mother of her children: Douglas, Williamsport; Michael, husband of Carol, Coopersburg; Ted, husband of Jean, Fleetwood; and Dr. Jennifer Frey, wife of Dr. Neil Thakur. Eight grandchildren also survive her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June, 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, Reading, PA 19609. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Association for Children with Learning Disabilities, 4900 Girard Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227. Edward J.
