Florence E. Weidenheimer, 84, formerly of Reading and West Lawn, died September 9, 2010 in Sutter Delta Medical Center, Antioch, CA.

Her husband, Robert M. Weidenheimer, died August 30, 2004.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Edith (Meinholz) Rathman.

She was a graduate of St. Peter's Catholic High School, Reading in 1942.

Florence was first employed by American Chain and Cable from 1946 to 1956. Later, she was the administrative assistant for William Miller State Farm Insurance Office in West Lawn from 1971 to 1981. From 1985 to 1995, she was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

Florence was an avid follower of her daughter's and granddaughters' equestrian pursuits, a former member of the Schuylkill Valley POA Club; and she was very enthusiastic about her volunteer service at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She is survived by her son Douglas M., husband of Alisa R. Weidenheimer, Brentwood, CA. There is also one brother, Frederick Rathman, Reading and two sisters, Dorothy Fletcher and Evelyn Baxter, both of Ohio. Three grandchildren, Alison R. Weidenheimer, Audrey E. Weidenheimer and Ava R. Weidenheimer also survive her.

Florence was predeceased by her daughter, Prudence A. Weidenheimer, two brothers, William Rathman and John Rathman; and two sisters, Edith Smith and Ruth Rathman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading.
