Fern Marie Wolfinger

Fern Marie (Hetrich) Wolfinger, also known as mom, mother, Grandma, Mam, Aunt Fern and Fernie gracefully left her family to reunite with her high school sweetheart Paul on July 7, 2014. Fern met her last goal of reaching 91 years of age. Fern was born July 6, 1923, the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Jesberg) Hetrich. Fern and Paul graduated from Reading High School in the class of 1941. They were separated for over 3 years during World War II. After reuniting in 1946, they married and later moved to their long time home in Muhlenberg Twp. in 1955.

Survivors include a daughter Carol Ann, wife of James Stone, Fleetwood and a son, Steven Paul, husband of Mary E. (Gentile) Wolfinger, Muhlenberg Twp. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Karin (Schuler) Kupper, Muhlenberg Twp.; Amy (Schuler) Dolla, St. Lawrence and Paul Thomas Wolfinger, Sinking Spring. There are four great-grandchildren Captain Eric Kupper, Seattle; Jared Kupper, Schuylkill Haven; Jordan Kupper, Muhlenberg Twp. and Daniel Dolla, St Lawrence and one great-great grandchild Kayson Kupper, Schuylkill Haven. Her husband Paul and older brother, Forrest Hetrich, predeceased her in 2012 and 2009 respectively.

Fern devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed family get-togethers, baking, making candy at the church, square dancing, traveling, playing cards & board games, crossword puzzles, and reading novels. She had a soothing, Magic Touch, putting children to sleep.

As any acquaintance will tell you, Fern was one of the nicest individuals that anybody could ever know. She was an active member of Grace Alsace United Church of Christ her entire life and was a choir member for over 50 years. Fern knew that she was blessed with a long, rewarding and fruitful life. She had no regrets in life and was ready to meet her God and reunite with her parents, brother, life long friends and her love of over 70 years, Paul.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
