Fern M. Dewald

Fern M. (Moyer) Dewald, 99 passed away April 22, 2016, at Berks Heim.

Her husband, George E. Dewald died on July 24, 1991.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Gertrude (Kaufman) Moyer.

She was a 1934 graduate of Reading High School.

Fern was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Glenside.

She was a member and former president of the Olivet's Boys and Girls Club Ladies Auxiliary, Reading. She was a member for 83 years. On her 90th birthday she received a citation and medal in recognition for her service, from the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Her life's work was dedicated to her family.

She is survived by four children: Jolynn K. (Dewald), wife of Joseph Grindrod, Richboro ; Craig T., widower of Janice Dewald, Bern Township; Dee M. (Dewald), wife of Dick Horst, Dauberville; and Claudia J. (Dewald), wife of John Larsen, Glen Ridge, NJ and two siblings: Robert A. Moyer, Jensen Beach, FL and Bernice G. (Moyer) Lebo, Muhlenberg Township. Eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive her.

A celebration of life service will held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 1301 Luzerne St., Reading, PA 19601. Prior to the service a visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be private in Pleasant View Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
