Father David J. Fick

Father David J. Fick, 53, died September 25 at John Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore, MD.

Born in Reading, he was the son of Leroy Joseph Fick of Reading and the late Jean (Avanzato) Fick.

Father Fick was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1971. He was a graduate of Allentown College of St. Francis deSales in 1975. He also graduated from St. Charles of Borromeo Seminary of Philadelphia in 1983.

Before entering the seminary, he was the director of Human Resorces from 1976- 1983 for GPU in Parsippany, NJ and Middletown, PA.

Father Fick was the Asst. Pastor of Sacred Heart RCC from 1996 to 1998. He was a priest in residence from 1998 to present.

He was the Chaplain at Reading Hospital from 1998 to present.

Father Fick was an Eagle scout and also a member of the National Boy Scout Chaplain Association.

He is survived by one brother, Daniel J. Fick and his wife, Cory, of Shillington, and one sister Diane J. (Fick) wife of James Faso of Drexel Hill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catharine of Siena RCC, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading. Friends may call both Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
