F. Donald Springer, 83, formerly of Spring Twp., and of Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville, died June 19, 2017, in Jewish Hospital, Louisville, KY.
He was the husband of Theresa (Szilagyi) Springer.
Born in Johnstown, PA, he was a son of the late Francis J. and Barbara (Schultz) Springer.
He was a graduate of Conemaugh Twp. High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Don was a plant engineer for Glidden/ICI in Reading, retiring in May of 1999.
He was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church in Whitfield where he was a past scout master for troop 430 and was a special minister of the Holy Eucharist. Don was a member of the Pretzel City Chorus and was the Western Division Vice President for the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: F. David Springer, Berkeley Heights, NJ; Cynthia A. (Springer) Kraus, Shelbyville, KY; and Michael D. Springer, York, PA; one brother: M. Barry Springer, husband of Lois (Smith) Springer, Johnstown, PA.; and one brother-in-law: Charles Szilagyi, husband of Joyce (Begies) Szilagyi of Bethlehem, PA.
He is also survived by five grandchildren: Andrea T. Springer, Rebecca C. Springer, and Michael John Springer; children of Michael D. and Terry L. (Antosy) Springer; and Chelsea A. (Kraus) Klinksiek, and Jordan B. Kraus, daughters of Cynthia A. (Springer) Kraus and Jeffery A. Kraus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Thomas P. Bortz on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola R.C.C., 2810 St. Albans Drive, Whitfield, PA 19608. Family and friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Entombment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul at 58 Progress Parkway, Maryland Heights, MO 63043-3706 or St. Ignatius of Loyola R.C.C. at the above address. Edward J.
