Evelyn G. Zook

Evelyn G. Zook, 86, formerly of the Woodland Plaza Apartments, Wyomissing, died Dec. 13 at 7:20 a.m. in Phoebe Berks Health Center, Wernersville, where she had been a resident since Dec. 20, 2000.

Born in Eshbach, she was a daughter of the late George and Ellen (Garber) Hafer.

Zook was employed for 15 years as a department manager by John Wanamaker's, Berkshire Mall, retiring in 1984. Previously, she had worked for more than 20 years as an assistant buyer for C. K. Whitner's, Reading.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Spangsville.

Zook was a 1934 graduate of Amity High School and a 1936 graduate of the McCann School of Business.

She is survived by a daughter, Bette A. (Zook) McNamara, Wyomissing; and a brother, D. Gene Hafer, Douglassville.

There are also three grandchildren.

Services will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
