Evelyn Theresa Seward, 92, of Villa St. Elizabeth, went home to the Lord on Sunday, January 13, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township, after a short illness.
A loving mother, grandmom and great grandmom, she was the wife of Joseph Horace Seward who died in 1999.
Born April 27, 1920 in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Eva (Narewski) Kornish.
Evelyn was a graduate of Scranton Tech High School.
She was employed with the Pennsylvania State Unemployment office for 44 years.
Evelyn was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township.
She enjoyed movies and loved to follow movie stars.
Evelyn was known for her generosity to others, always giving them candy and other treats, especially at Villa St. Elizabeth.
Surviving is her daughter, Mary L. (Seward), wife of John F. Thorne, III of Birdsboro.
Other survivors include two grandchildren: Jacqueline M., wife of Alfred Iacovella and Alexander J. Thorne and two great grandsons, Robert J. and Nicolas J.
Evelyn was predeceased by four siblings: Alexander Kornish, Victor Kornish, Edward Kornish and Blanche Martin.
A prayer service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Muhlenberg Township. There will be no viewing. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
