Evelyn (Knoblauch) Lichtenstein, 89, of Reading, died December 10, 2007 at 10:36 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where she had been a patient since December 8, 2007.

She was the wife of M. Edwin Lichtenstein.

Born on August 21, 1918 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Morris Knoblauch.

Evelyn graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. and from Temple University with a degree in Pharmacy.

She was employed by Reading School District as a dental hygienist.

Evelyn was a member of Shomrel Habrith Synagogue, Reading.

She was the past President of Berks County Blind Association and Hadassah and she was a member of the Reading Parking Authority.

Also surviving is a son, Allen B. Lichtenstein of Amity Township.

There is one brother, Lichtenstein of and two sisters, Lucy Knoblauch of Wyomissing and Ruth, widow of Irv Balis of Wyomissing.

She is also survived by one granddaughter, Amy K. Lichtenstein of Shillington and two great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with Rabbi Yosef Lipsker officiating.
