Evelia Solalinde-Rivera

Our beloved Evelia Solalinde Rivera passed away peacefully at age 37 on April 3, 2024, surrounded by her family in the care of Reading Hospital. She was born November 4, 1987, in Mexico to Father Luis Solalinde and Mother Rufina Rivera.

Evelia Graduated from Reading Senior High School Class of 2006. She worked as a medical assistant with Reading Hospital. Evelia lived life to the fullest every day. She was very spontaneous and wore her heart on her sleeves. She was always happy, and her smile would light up any room.

She is survived by her life partner, Juan Velasquez; her siblings, Luis, Sandra, and Andy Solalinde; and many nieces and nephews. Evelia was a devoted daughter, aunt, and sister who would always make time for her family, especially her mother, Rufina. Evelia had a natural ability to connect with people and always put their needs first.

Evelia was more than just an aunt, sister, and daughter. Evelia was one of a kind to many, she was their best friend, she cared about her family more than anything, always made sure everyone was good whether it was a random text or a visit to your door. Evelia was a great listener; she was someone you could trust with your deepest secrets and who would give you amazing advice. She meant a lot to everyone, whether it was through family gatherings, work, or doing people's hair, she had a big impact on everyone's life. Evelia showed everyone close to her how to love genuinely and not to seek anything in return. Evelia was always down for an adventure no matter what. When she wasn't working Evelia would enjoy going to the beach, long car rides, shopping, going to carnivals, or just relaxing and snacking on her favorite chips, of course with hot sauce and lemon. One little tradition we would do is watch football every Sunday, especially when her favorite team played, of course the Eagles. Her favorite color is purple."The color purple is a hue that has long been associated with royalty, power and mystery. It can evoke feelings of creativity, luxury, grandeur, sophistication, wisdom, and spirituality It can also represent magic, extravagance, peace, pride, independence, and wealth." And now we see why she loved the color purple; because Evelia was all the above and more. Evelia was funny and at times very sassy with her sarcastic humor. She was loved by all who knew her. Evelia was honestly the glue to the family, and she will deeply be missed and remembered as a kind, loving, compassionate, and generous person who made a difference in the lives of so many.
