Born and raised in Peking, China, and living in a German community, she was the daughter of the late Ernst and Gertrud (Rode) Dello. Eva lived there till she was 16 before the family moved to Germany where she met her soon to be first husband, James D. van Hoevenberg, who was in the U.S. Army.

After marrying James in Germany and coming to the States in 1948, Eva was an important part of the family owned and operated business known as the "Farm on the Hill", which is noted as being the first resort in the Poconos that was exclusive to honeymooners only, where her love of cooking began.

After moving to Reading in 1969 and marrying John J. Flexer, they had many years of happiness together. Eva worked for 10 years at Boscov's Department Store, first in Ladies Dresses, then in Fine Jewelry before retiring early to be the devoted caregiver of John, whose health was failing.

Hare of Robesonia, PA. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Andrew Brown of Monroe, Michigan, Laura and Jacob Hare of Robesonia, and also 2 great-grandsons, Owen Brown and Carter (Hare) Allen. Eva is also survived by her sister, Helga Adams (Moctezema) of Alexandria, VA, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her half-brother, Walter Dello, and her stepchildren Elaine LaManna and Michael Flexer. Additional survivors include a stepson, John W. Flexer, 5 step grandchildren and several step greatgrandchildren.

Eva loved her family and many friends. She enjoyed painting crafts, crocheting, cooking, sharing recipes and especially baking for everyone in her life, the mailman, the firemen, the dentist office, everyone loved seeing Eva come with her tray of goodies.
