Eugene A. Sampson, 98, formerly of Wyomissing, died March 10, 2013, in Berks Heim.
His beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Estelle (Loughran) Sampson, died November 30, 2010.
Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Ernest and Emma Sampson.
He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a First Lieutenant from 1941 to 1946 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1946 to 1954.
Eugene worked in materials handling equipment sales and after retiring in 1984 he served as a volunteer fireman and Town Selectman in New Gloucester, Maine, before moving to Wyomissing. While living in Wyomissing he enjoyed working as a greeter for Walmart.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Eugene is survived by five daughters: Deborah wife of Kenton Lewis, Superior, MT, Connie, wife of Gonzalo Arauz, Wyomissing, Melanie, wife of Manuel Sanchez, San Francisco, CA, Elizabeth Sampson, Novato, CA and Eleanor, wife of Vince La Rocca, Sausalito, CA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Boston, MA. Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Memorial Fund, P.O.
