Eugene W. High, 91, of Wyomissing, died November 17, 2010 in The Highlands at Wyomissing.
He was the wife of Fern B. (Moodhart) High.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William B. and Mabel (Farling) High.
Eugene was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School then graduated from Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. After returning from WWII, he graduated from Lehigh University, 1948, and attended Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH.
He retired from The Stearns-Roger Co., Denver, CO.
Eugene was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving in WWII. After parachuting from his B-17 he was captured by the Germans and became a Prisoner Of War at a prison camp for 19 months in Stalag 17, Austria.
He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church.
Eugene was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, and missionary work. He was an avid golfer and loved family gatherings.
In addition to his wife, Fern, he is survived by his two children: Ronald E., husband of Maureen (Kemper) High, Topanga Canyon, CA and Carol Jean, wife of Terrance Price, O'Fallon, MO. He is also survived by his two sisters: Thelma Schwartz, Reading and Constance Webster, FL.
He was predeceased by his brother, Bertrand J. High.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
