Ethel F. (nee Dietrich) George, 103, passed away November 14, 2021, in her Greenwich Township residence.

Her husband Stanley B. George, died on October 6, 1967. They were married on May 31, 1941 and was a hard working farm wife from 1945 to 1967.

Born in Greenwich Township on February 4, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Edward C. and Hattie (Wessner) Dietrich.

She was a 1935 graduate of Kutztown High School and a 1937 graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College.

Ethel taught four years in one room schools, a plane spotter during WWII, a tax collector for Greenwich Township for 25 years. Ethel also worked as a secretary for 12 years at the Albany Township Elementary School, before retiring in 1981.

She was a past treasurer for the Berks County Tax Collectors Association and previously served on the audit committee for Greenwich Township.

Ethel was a member of Friedens Church, Lenhartsville where she had been a member and past treasurer of the Women's Guild, a member of the Senior Choir, also serving on the church council and helped to make fastnachts and was the sunny side up eggs fryer at many of the ham and egg suppers at the church.

She enjoyed traveling, baking, cooking, quilting and crocheting.

Ethel is survived by three children: Sabilla A. (Young), wife of David Lightcap, Kutztown, Lynn D., husband of Cathy (Neiswender) George, Jamesville, NY and Eric S., husband of Susan E. (Wagner) George, Hamburg. Six grandchildren: Brittany S. (George), wife of Michael Gnall, Hamburg, Madison E. (George), wife of Joshua Babura, Robesonia, Morgan L. (George), wife of Zachary Hoherchak, Exeter, Tara (George), wife of Jon Wing, Dewitt, NY, Laura (George) Dineen, Jamesville, NY, and Peter, husband of Johanna (Freeman) Dewitt, NY.; ten great-grandchildren: Blaine, Leah, Hunter, Ella, Brady, Parker, Logan, Gavin, Bryce and Adelynn; two sister-in laws, Elaine D. (George), widow of Albert Spooner, Topton and Jane, widow of Arlan Dietrich, Kutztown and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was predeceased by four brothers: Edward, Arlan, James and Wayne Dietrich; one sister, Dorothy Adam and her infant great-granddaughter, Charlie Leah George.

A viewing will be Friday, November 19, 2021, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, 40 South Fourth St. Hamburg. Service will be Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville. Contributions may be made to Friedens Church, P.O.
