Ethel Carrie Yaklowich

Ethel Carrie (Zerbe) Yaklowich, 83, formerly of Alsace Township and Temple died August 1st at 7:58 am in Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she had been since January 27, 2005.

Born in Centre Township, she was a daughter of the late William Zerbe and Helen (Moyer) Zerbe-Fenstermacher-Reist.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Ethel was a 1941 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

She was employed a number of years in the accounting department at Vanity Fair, Wyomissing and later worked at Boscov's in the Ladies Coats & Dresses, retiring after 36 years as a department manager in 1992.

Ethel sang with Sweet Adelines for 25 years.

She is survived by Joseph F. Yaklowich of Laureldale.

Other survivors include four daughters, Judith L. wife of Joseph A. Tamashasky of New Philadelphia, Schuylkill County; JoAnn wife of Glenn J. Hillegass of Oley; Janice K. wife of Dana C. Heck of Blandon and Jolene F. wife of Dale N. Moser of Bernville.

There are also three grandchildren, Troy A. Hillegass, Jedd M. Hillegass and Lindsay N. (Schell) Dunlap; and two great grandsons, Nolan D. Hillegass and Paden J. Hillegass.

She was predeceased by a son, John Michael Yaklowich, who died July, 1948.

Services will be Friday at 10:00 am in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Rev. Grant Wickert officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Parkinson Disease, Michael J.
