Ethel Mae (Feltenberger) Blecher, 101, formerly of West Lawn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 in her Phoebe Berks, Wernersville residence. Born November 1, 1916 in Reading, Ethel was a daughter of the late Monroe and Marie (Fretz) Feltenberger, and the loving wife of Donald Blecher, who passed in 2003. They truly celebrated 68 years of marriage together, and her family takes great comfort in knowing they are reunited again.
Ethel was a founding and lifelong member of West Wyomissing Chapel and was its oldest living member. She taught crafts at bible school at the Chapel for many years. Ethel worked for over 30 years at the former Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing and making beautiful crafts. But her greatest passion was her family, and she particularly adored her daughter, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly.
Ethel is survived by her daughter Karolyn, widow of Richard Schrufer, Wyomissing, her sister Betty Oliver, Hawaii, and her grandchildren: Lori, wife of Anthony Casamassa, Robesonia; Tracy, wife of Ronald Reed, West Lawn; and Richard S. Schrufer, husband of Eileen.
Also surviving are her seven great grandchildren: Brynn, Allie, Luke, Ian, Samantha, Derek and Lea, and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers Donald Feltenberger and Frederick Reicheneder.
Ethel's long and wonderful life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service at 11:00am Friday, April 13, 2018 at West Wyomissing Chapel, 2055 Reading Boulevard, West Lawn, with Dr. Brett Reider, Pastor, presiding. Friends may call one hour prior to the Service at the Chapel beginning at 10:00am. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
While flowers are welcome, donations in Ethel's name can also be made to West Wyomissing Chapel at the address above.
Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
