Esther R. Nye

Esther R. Nye, 97 formerly of Robeson Township, died July 20, 2008 at 10:31 a.m. in Berkshire Center, Exeter Township.

She was the wife of the late George H. Nye who died April 2, 1988.

Born May 24, 1911 in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Bertha (Guinther) Shenk.

Esther was employed by Schoener's Candy, West Reading for ten years.

Surviving are two children; Ronald L. Nye of Birdsboro and Betty J. (Nye) Trate of Sinking Spring.

She is also survived by four sisters, Dorothy (Shenk) Hyneman of Reading, Myrtle (Shenk) Bechtel of Robesonia, Flora (Shenk) Patches of Newmanstown, Lebanon County and Pauline (Shenk) McNeil of Muhlenberg Township.

In addition there are nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 West Reading. Viewings will be held Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Thursday morning an hour before the service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
