Erman T. Farina

Erman T. Farina, 87, of Bern Twp. died October 9 at 1:45 p.m. in Reading Hospital where he had been since September 30.

He was the husband of Elizabeth A. (Calpino) Farina.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Anthony and Catherine (Todaro) Farina.

Farina was first employed by Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing as a topper for 25 years until 1961. From 1961 until his retirement in 1980 he was employed by the United States Postal Service. He retired as supervisor of the Sinking Spring Office.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1935.

Farina was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II. On June 5, 1945, as 2nd Lieutenant , he received the Oak Leaf Cluster/Air Medal Award for meritorious achievement while participating in sustained operational flight/bombing missions in the Southwest Pacific Area.

He was a lifetime member of both the NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and the 38th Bomb Group, 405th squadron.

Farina was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Farina, Upper Darby, Delaware County, and JoAnn (Farina) Gustantino, Temple. Other survivors include one brother Charles Farina, Reading and one sister, Josephine J. Farina, Wyomissing. There are also 2 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Kuhn Funeral Home 739 Penn Ave. W. Rdg. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association 225 North Michigan Avenue Suite 1700 Chicago, IL 60601 or to Deborah Hospital Foundation P.O. Box 820 Browns Mills, NJ 08015. Please note on either contribution that the money is to be donated in the name of Erman Farina. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
