Erma M. Miller

Erma M. (Schlegel) Miller, 93, formerly of Riverview Park, died June 11th at 2:05 am in Reading Hospital and Medical Center where she had been since Thursday.

She was taken there from ManorCare Health Services, Laureldale, where she had been since April 9, 1997.

Miller was the widow of J. Edgar Miller, who died May 13, 1998.

Born in Mount Penn, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Isadora (Fies) Schlegel.

She was the Choir director and Organist for a number of years at Zion Spies Church, Maidencreek Union Church and Good Shepherd Union Church.

Miller was a piano teacher, working out of her home, for a number of years until her retirement.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Miller is survived by a daughter, Alice L. (Miller) wife of Douglas Strauss of Greenfields.

Other survivors include two sons, David L. husband of Karen E. (Herring) Miller of Dallas, Texas and J. Frederick husband of Marjorie (Freund) Miller of North Catasauqua, Pa.

There are six grandchildren and one great grandson.

Services will be Monday at 1:00 pm in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1009 Elizabeth Avenue, Laureldale, Pa 19605. Rev. Grant Wickert officiating. Visitation Monday from Noon until time of service in the Church. Burial will be in Spies Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church's Memorial Fund at the above address. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
