Erma A. Fretz

Erma Anna Fretz, 86 of Spring Township, died November 6, 2009 in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township.

She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Leroy H. Fretz, whom she married November 25, 1945.

Born May 14, 1923 in Kutztown, she was a daughter of the late Henry Manwiller and Mary Ann (Bechtel) Spohn.

In addition to being a good mother and homemaker, Erma enjoyed seweing and knitting for her family and was an avid quilter.

Erma was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Reading.

Surviving are her four loving children: Phyllis, wife of Charles Hawman of Seattle, WA; William, husband of Melanie Fretz of Perry Township; Diane (Fretz) Hallowell of Cumru Township and Keith, husband of Sarah Fretz of Reading.

Other survivors include a brother, Wayne Spohn of Spring Township and two sisters, Shirley Zodel of Breiningsville and Faye Guenther of Mansfield, PA.

In addition, there are four grandchildren surviving: Elizabeth Hawman, Matthew Hallowell, Megan Papich and Thomas Fretz.

Erma was predeceased by a sister Arlene Miller.

A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 1128 Hampden Blvd., Reading, 19604. Inurnment will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
