Emma C. Grout

Emma C. (Clammer) Grout, 103, formerly of 120 West Bellevue Ave., Muhlenberg Park, died October 20th at 9:05 pm in ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township, where she had been since September 11, 2001.

She was the widow of Harold M. Grout.

Born in Temple, she was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Anna Laurie (Rubright) Clammer.

She was a 1919 graduate of Leesport High School and a graduate of Kutztown Normal School and a graduate of New York University, Albany.

Grout was a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Tuckerton.

She was a teacher for 9 years for the Muhlenberg School District and later another 20 years as a penmanship supervisor for Troy (N.Y.) School District until her retirement.

Grout was a painter, who has some of her works hanging in Penn State University, Berks Campus art gallery.

She is survived by a step-grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm in Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Rt. 61 and Tuckerton Roads, Muhlenberg Township. Viewing Tuesday 1:00 pm until time of service in the church. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
