Emma M. Frill, 96, formerly of West Reading, PA passed away November 30, 2013 in ManorCare Health Services-Lebanon, PA.
She was the loving wife of Robert H. Frill, formerly of West Reading, residing at Linden Village in Lebanon, PA
Born April 29, 1917, in Reading, PA she was the daughter of the late Samuel Frank and Annie (Rutter) Yarnell.
Emma was a 1935 graduate of Reading High School.
She worked as a topper for the Berkshire Knitting Mills for many years, until her retirement in 1982. Following her retirement she was an active volunteer for the West Reading Auxiliary of Reading Hospital. Emma enjoyed knitting for family and friends, especially donating hand-knitted caps for Reading Hospital newborns. In addition, she joined her husband, Bob, as an active volunteer for the Reading Society of Model Engineers. Emma was also an avid walker and participated in local Crop Walks to feed the hungry.
Emma was a long time member of St. James Church, West Reading, PA. She enjoyed her participation as a Sunday School teacher, Bell Choir member and Women's group member. She was a proud inductee to the 2007 Berks County Voters Hall of Fame for having voted for fifty years in consecutive November elections.
She was a wonderful cook and baker whose recipes are treasured. Most of all, Emma enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband she is survived by her sons: Dennis R., husband of Marlene Frill, Bellevue, NE; and George T., husband of Teresa Frill, Wyomissing, PA. Five grandchildren: Ellen Gow (James), Mark Frill (Jennifer), Nicole Hughes (Eric) of Bellevue Nebraska and Shauna Davis (Kory) and Stephanie Frill of Wyomissing along with several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her sister: Fern Clark, Frederick, PA. Five great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Mikey Gow, Jackson and Mason Frill, and Elaina Davis also survive her. She was predeceased by her sister, Grace Wolff Moran, Dayton, OH.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Greater Berks Food Bank, 1011 Tuckerton Ct, Reading, PA 19605.
